THE RESpiratory system
The respiratory system functions in gas exchange in the body. It allows for oxygen gas to enter, and for carbon dioxide gas to leave. It also distributes oxygen to the body and returns to the lungs.
Nasal Passage- the nasal passage allows for breathing through the nose.
Oral Cavity- the oral cavity allows for breathing through the mouth.
Pharynx- the pharynx is located in the throat and aids in breathing, eating, drinking, and vocalization.
Larynx- the larynx is the voice box, and is what produces sound when we talk
Trachea- the trachea is the windpipe, and is the tube that oxygen travels down to the lungs and that carbon dioxide travels up to leave the body either through the nasal passage or the oral cavity.
Bronchi- the bronchi are passageways in the respiratory tract that bring air into the lungs.
Lung- the lungs are responsible for gas exchange, which is done by the alveoli inside the lungs,
