The Muscular System
The muscles in our bodies can be categorized into 3 different types.
1. Skeletal Muscles
2. Smooth Muscles
3. Cardiac Muscles

3. Cardiac Muscles
Skeletal muscles
Skeletal muscles are responsible for moving and supporting our skeleton. They are sometimes called striated muscles due to the formation of the muscle fibers into long strands. These muscles are voluntary, which means we can move them at will to move.
Smooth muscles
Smooth muscles are also referred to as involuntary muscles, located in the walls of blood vessels, the stomach, and the intestines. Smooth muscles are responsible for the contraction of our organs and tissues that we don't think about, such as blinking, or the movement of our stomach or esophagus.
Cardiac muscles
Cardiac muscles are the muscles found in the heart that cause it to be able to pump blood through the body. Cardiac muscles are also involuntary, similar to smooth muscles. Although it is involuntary, its structure is also striated like skeletal muscles.
